SEOUL, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- Kim Yo Jong, the sister of top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong Un, will come to South Korea later this week to attend the South Korea-hosted Winter Olympics, Seoul's unification ministry said Wednesday.

The DPRK notified South Korea earlier in the day of the list of its high-ranking delegation, which will be led by Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly.

Kim Yo Jong, the first vice director of the ruling Workers' Party of Korea Central Committee, was included in the high-ranking delegation scheduled to stay in South Korea from Friday to Sunday for the 23rd Winter Olympics.

Also included in the DPRK delegation were Choe Hwi, chairman of the National Sports Guidance Committee, and Ri Son Gwon, chief of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland.

The four-member delegation will be accompanied by 16 support staffers and three journalists.

The South Korea government viewed the composition of the DPRK delegation as meaningful as it included officials from the ruling party, the government and the sports to celebrate the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics, according to Seoul's unification ministry.

The Winter Olympics are slated to kick off Friday at South Korea's eastern county of PyeongChang.

The DPRK athletes and cheerleaders have already arrived in South Korea to march together under a unified Korean flag at the opening ceremony and cheer together for both athletes of South Korea and the DPRK.
