ALGIERS, March 18 (Xinhua) -- Algerian Army Chief of Staff on Sunday warned that Algeria's sovereignty, security and stability is a red line that no one can cross.

Lieutenant-General Ahmed Gaid Salah said there is "no room" to harm the country's "security, stability and the capabilities of its people."

He said so in a statement during a visit to the eastern province of Constantine, pointing out that Algeria, which suffered in the past colonialism, managed to reach independence thanks to a massive popular revolution.

"Today, the National People's Army and all the other security forces have to follow on the same path and the same national approach," he noted, stressing the importance to continue pursuing security, unity and stability of the nation.

He also mentioned the persistent efforts to increase the capabilities of the armed forces "to ensure that they are fully ready to protect Algeria from all dangers and threats."

In this regard, Algerian security expert Ahmed Mizab told Xinhua that the statement of Gaid Salah alluded to the alarming and dangerous indicators found on the back belt and the security cordon of Algeria, whether in the Sahel region, or even in the eastern and western borderlines.

Mizab added that this situation forced Army Chief of Staff to recall the strategy of the Algerian army based on indisputable defense of the security and safety of Algeria.

The security expert said that Algeria managed to safeguard its security and stability amid turbulence and crises that have been hitting the region, noting that Gaid Salah wanted to reaffirm the existence of worrying plots seeking to hit the stability of Algeria.

The message of Gaid Salah is meant to warn "anyone plotting to undermine Algeria's stability," concluded Mizab.
