OSLO, April 18 (Xinhua) -- Norway's Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace AS said Wednesday it has entered into contract worth 124 million euros (153 million U.S. dollars) with the Royal Malaysian Navy for delivery of the Naval Strike Missile (NSM).

The NSM will be equipped to Malaysia's six new Littoral Combat Ships and the contract is a follow-on to the agreement announced April 9, 2015, for NSM shipboard equipment, the company said in a statement.

The ships, which are being built by Malaysia's Boustead Naval Shipyard Sdn Bhd, are based on Gowind Class design of Naval Group, a French industrial group specialised in naval defence and marine renewable energy.

The NSM will be deck mounted and integrated to the SETIS combat management system provided by Naval Group, according to Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace AS.

"This contract provides the Royal Malaysian Navy with an important surface-to-surface-missile capability and confirms NSM's very strong position in the international market," Eirik Lie, president of Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace AS, was quoted as saying in the statement.

"NSM is currently chosen by Norway, Poland, Germany and Malaysia," he said.
