KIEV, May 22 (Xinhua) -- Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and his visiting Estonian counterpart Kersti Kaljulaid met here on Tuesday to discuss cooperation between the two countries, Poroshenko's press service said.

During the meeting, the two leaders exchanged their views on a wide range of issues, including bilateral economic and security partnership, as well as collaboration in resolving the conflict in eastern Ukraine, according to a statement on the Ukrainian presidential website.

At the talks, Poroshenko noted that the relations between Ukraine and Estonia are experiencing an all-time high, the economic cooperation is developing rapidly, while the bilateral trade is increasing.

To push forward the partnership, Poroshenko and Kaljulaid agreed to hold a meeting of the bilateral intergovernmental commission on economic and humanitarian cooperation later this year.

The parties have also discussed the possible deployment of the UN peacekeeping troops in eastern Ukraine and Estonia's participation in the monitoring mission of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in the conflict-affected area.

Kaljulaid arrived in Ukraine earlier in the day for a three-day official visit. After the talks with the Ukrainian authorities in Kiev, she will travel to eastern Ukraine to learn more about the situation in the conflict zone.

According to Poroshenko's spokesman Svyatoslav Tsegolko, the Estonian president will be the first foreign leader to visit Donbas since the start of the armed conflict in April 2014.
