KIEV, May 30 (Xinhua) -- China and Ukraine share great potential for cooperation in green energy, a senior Ukrainian energy sector official said Wednesday.

"Ukraine and China have significant prospects for strengthening cooperation in clean energy, garbage processing and energy efficiency," Sergiy Savchuk, head of Ukraine's State Agency for Energy Efficiency, said on Facebook.

Ukrainian companies must learn from the successful experience of their Chinese partners, who are now among the world's leaders in renewable energy, said Savchuk.

Besides, Ukraine is interested in a joint implementation of green energy projects with China, he added.

Currently, Ukraine can offer cooperation in about 100 potential projects, which require an investment of about 3.4 billion euros (3.95 billion U.S. dollars), said Savchuk.

In December 2017, China's National Energy Administration and Ukraine's State Agency for Energy Efficiency signed a memorandum to promote partnership in green energy.

In August last year, the Ukrainian government developed the country's energy strategy, setting a target to increase the renewable part of the energy mix from the current 4 percent to 25 percent by 2035.
