SINGAPORE, June 8 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed lower on Friday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 1.06 percent or 36.71 points to close at 3,436.37.

A total of 2.02 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.13 billion Singapore dollars (about 844.4 million U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 264 to 151.

The STI index closed up 0.15 percent or 5.27 points to close at 3,473.08 Thursday.?
