    BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, July 4 (Xinhua) -- Brunei's total trade balance amounted to 364.4 million Brunei dollars (267.0 million U.S. dollars) in the month of March, an impressive 57.7 percent year-on-year increase.

    According to the latest statistics released by the Department of Economic Planning and Development (JPKE) at the Prime Minister's Office on Wednesday, the exports amounted to 754.8 million Brunei dollars in March 2018, a 20 percent year-on-year increase, while imports were valued at 390.4 million Brunei dollars. Mineral Fuels recorded the highest contribution with 690.5 million Brunei dollars, or 91.5 percent of total exports.

    The highest exports market was Japan with 31.1 percent of total exports, followed by Thailand (16.2 percent), India (14.9 percent) and Australia (10.7 percent).

    In March 2018, imports of goods decreased by 1.9 percent year-on-year from 397.9 million Brunei dollars in March 2017 to 390.4 million Brunei dollars.

    The highest imports came from China with 29.4 percent of total imports, followed by Malaysia (16.3 percent), Singapore (16.0 percent) and India (6.9 percent).
