TOKYO, July 11 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks lost ground Wednesday morning as investor sentiment was soured by the United States saying it will impose impose tariffs on more Chinese imports, possibly from September in a move that has reignited global trade tensions.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 305.69 points, or 1.38 percent, from Tuesday to 21,891.20.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 18.64 points, or 1.09 percent, to 1,697.49.

Marine transportation, rubber product, and textile and apparel-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
