    NEW DELHI, July 14 (Xinhua) -- A pot containing jewellery and gold coins belonging to the 12th century have been found by laborers during earth-digging for a road construction in central Indian state of Chhattisgarh, officials said Saturday.

    The pot containing articles of archaeological importance was found in Kondagaon district, about 213 km south of Raipur, the capital city of Chhattisgarh.

    "The pot containing 57 gold coins, a silver coin, and a gold earring was unearthed by laborers during the construction of a road between Korkoti and Bedma villages," a senior government official Neelkanth Tekam told media. "The pot was handed over to us by village head of Korkoti yesterday."

    Preliminary investigations revealed the coins belonged to Yadav dynasty that ruled the princely state of Vidarbah (present day Maharashtra).

    The coins would be handed over to archaeological department for preservation and research studies, officials said.?
