HONG KONG, May 9 (Xinhua) -- A two-day low-altitude economy exhibition hosted by Hong Kong's flagship incubator Cyberport kicked off on Friday to showcase myriad projects and application scenarios as the city nurtures the nascent industry.

Many projects featured in the event were among low-altitude economy regulatory sandbox pilot projects unveiled by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government in March to enlighten the public of the tangible benefits of low-altitude economy.

A subsidiary of mainland logistics heavyweight Shunfeng Express will trial drone deliveries of medicine and other items to some of the islands of Hong Kong at the event.

Elizabeth Quat, a member of the Legislative Council of the HKSAR, told Xinhua that Hong Kong's solid research and development prowess, city-wide network coverage and its 3D digital map will help foster companies in the industry and allow them to explore overseas markets.

The HKSAR government pledged in 2024 to establish a working group on developing low-altitude economy to formulate development strategies and draw up relevant regulations.
