SYDNEY, May 10 (Xinhua) -- Four 15-year-old males were arrested following a string of alleged aggravated carjackings in Melbourne's northwest, in Australia's state of Victoria, Victoria Police said in a statement on Saturday.

Police said that three male offenders, wielding edged weapons, made demands for a man's car in Aintree, a suburb in Melbourne, at about 11 p.m. local time on Friday.

The man refused to hand over the vehicle and was allegedly assaulted by the offenders. The three offenders allegedly fled the scene, and the victim was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Investigators alleged that the same group of offenders approached another man, making demands for his silver Toyota Camry, in Sunshine, another suburb in Melbourne, less than an hour later.

The offenders took off in the Camry, after they assaulted the victim, resulting in minor injuries. Police caught sight of the Camry travelling in convoy with a Toyota Kluger, in the Deer Park area.

The vehicles split up into two different suburbs and were dumped. Police arrested three male youths who were occupants of the Camry and seized multiple edged weapons, and arrested the alleged driver who dumped the Kluger and seized edged weapons as well. No one was injured.

Investigators alleged that the Kluger was stolen as the result of a carjacking in Sunshine on Wednesday. ■
