KABUL, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- The counter-narcotics police in the drive against illegal crops have destroyed 23 acres of hashish farms in the northern Afghanistan Badakhshan province, provincial police spokesman Ehsanullah Kamgar said Monday.
The campaign, which launched on Sunday in Khash district, has so far smashed hashish farms in 23 acres of land, the official said, adding that the police would continue to destroy illegal crops, including hashish and opium poppy farms, elsewhere in the province.
Aimed at checking the cultivation of illegal crops, drug production and its trafficking, the anti-drug campaign would last until the province gets rid of the drug menace, the official further said. ■
