LOS ANGELES, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- Disney's animated comedy film "Zootopia 2" reclaimed the top spot at the North American box office with an estimated three-day cume of 26.3 million U.S. dollars in its third weekend of release, according to data from measurement firm Comscore released on Sunday.

In the sequel to 2016's "Zootopia," two rookie police officers, rabbit Judy Hopps and fox Nick Wilde, return as partners. They find themselves on the twisting trail of a major mystery after Gary De'Snake arrives in Zootopia and turns the animal metropolis upside down. The film was directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard.

"Zootopia 2" has grossed 259 million dollars in North America and an estimated 1.136 billion dollars worldwide through Sunday.

Universal's horror sequel "Five Nights At Freddy's 2," which overtook "Zootopia 2" to claim the No. 1 spot last weekend, came in second this weekend with 19.5 million dollars, bringing its North American cume to 95.5 million dollars.

Rounding out the top three, Universal's fantasy film "Wicked: For Good," now in its fourth weekend, earned 8.55 million dollars, bringing its domestic tally to 312.1 million dollars.
