MANAMA, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- Four members of a sleeper cell who were trained in Iran have been arrested in connection with an oil pipeline blast in Bahrain, the country's interior ministry said on Wednesday.

The ministry said the terrorists, who are members of the outlaw February 14 Coalition, were arrested for plotting and blasting an oil pipeline near the Buri village on Nov. 10.

"The incident was a serious terrorist crime that targeted the supreme interests of the nation and the people's safety," said the ministry.

No injuries were reported in the blasting, and investigations resulted in identifying the four men.

Two of those arrested had received intensive training at the Iranian Revolutionary Guard camps with the help of the leading fugitive terrorists living in Iran, the ministry said.

"The terrorists in Bahrain are recruited and their expenses for travelling to Iran are covered under the excuse of going on religious visits," added the ministry.

It stated the training included making and using bombs, using different types of guns such as Kalashnikovs and rocket-propelled grenades.

"Immediately after their return from Iran, they planned and got ready to blast the oil pipeline in Buri, in addition to committing a series of other terrorist acts," it added.

The Ministry said the oil pipeline blast caused financial losses and damage to people's homes and other properties.

Meanwhile, the search continues to arrest three fugitives involved in the financing, planning and implementation of the crime.

Bahrain is a close U.S. ally, hosting its Navy Fifth Fleet.
