  1. Algeria's Bouksani wins Uganda Junior International Badminton Open title

    KAMPALA, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- In-form Halla Bouksani was a class apart as she battled her way to win the women's singles final of the 2018 Uganda Junior International Badminton Open Championship which ended on Wednesday.

    The youngster beat fellow Algerian Linda Mazri 13-21, 21-14, 21-14 to win the title at the Lugogo Arena in Kampala.

    "This was a very tough final. I am happy that I managed to come from a set down to win 2-1," a happy Bouksani said. She had eliminated Egypt' s Jana Ashraf 21-18, 21-14 at the semi-final stage.

    In the men's singles, top seed Mohamed Mostafa Kamel from Egypt stopped Zambia's Kalombo Mulenga 21-11, 21-14. Kamel used his good game reading together with quick reaction and well placed shots to beat the Zambian.

    Uganda's top seed Brian Kasirye, who will take part in the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in Australia,r paired with Muzafar Lubega to win the men's doubles title. They stopped Algeria's Suleiman Larbaoui and Malak Ouchefoun 21-18, 13-21, 21-19.

    Kasirye, who lost in the men's semi-final to Kamel, was also a loser in the mixed doubles final where he paired with Husina Kobusinge. They lost to Algeria's Larbaoui and Linda Mazri.

    Mazri and Bouksani were winners in the women's doubles, defeating Uganda's Kobugabe and Tracy Naluwooza 21-13, 21-13.

    The event which was also sanctioned by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) that has attracted players from Uganda, Kenya, Algeria, Egypt and Zambia.
