RIO DE JANEIRO, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- Brazil's President Michel Temer has said the corruption accusations against him are "insignificant" and part of a scheme.

After a Brazilian Supreme Court judge decided Tuesday to extend the investigation into Temer's alleged corruption for 60 days, the president said in a radio interview, "The accusations are insignificant. They are part of a scheme which has since come to light."

"I will not tolerate my actions being connected to corruption," he added.

Brazil's federal prosecution office last year filed charges against Temer for corruption, obstruction of justice as well as criminal associations, and parliament voted to shelve them till the end of his presidential term that runs through 2018.

It has been alleged that Temer approved some deals to favor certain companies. Federal prosecutors are also trying to prove his involvement in a bribery case involving Brazil's biggest construction company Odebrecht.
