SHANGHAI, May 19 (Xinhua) -- More than 150,000 people have visited Shanghai Guanfu Museum since it opened in China's tallest building Shanghai Tower in March 2017, the museum said over the weekend.

On the 37th floor of the skyscraper, the museum is some 173 meters above the ground, and allows visitors to learn about the exhibits while enjoying a view of Huangpu River.

Founded by Ma Weidu, a well-known Chinese antique collector, Shanghai Guanfu Museum showcases ceramics, gold, and Buddha statues in permanent exhibitions, and hosts temporary exhibitions.

"About 20,000 to 30,000 people work in Shanghai Tower everyday, it's like a small city that requires all kinds of facilities. Apart from restaurants, accommodations, and shops, a museum is also of importance," said a museum staff member.

Standing in the center of Lujiazui Financial Zone in Shanghai's Pudong New Area, Shanghai Tower is 632 meters tall. The building's operators said that they aim to match the height of the building with the height of culture contained inside.

There is no one item can be regarded as the focal point of the museum, a museum docent said, adding "the beauty of the pieces varies in different eyes, each visitor's favorite item is the centerpiece of their heart."

Established in 1996, Shanghai Guanfu Museum is one of the very first privately-owned museums in the Chinese mainland.
