PALEMBANG, Indonesia, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- China's Wang Qiang will meet Indonesian Aldilla Sutjiadi in the quarterfinals of Asian Games women's tennis singles after the latter defeated Japan's Miyu Kato in a round-of-16 match in the Jakabaring Sports Center (JSC) tennis stadium here on Tuesday.

China's Asian Games no. 2 seed Wang advanced to the quarterfinals after stopping her opponent from Kazakhstan, no. 16 seed Gozal Ainitdinova in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4.

In the morning match, the 2014 Incheon Asian Games women's singles champion Wang easily controlled the match.

Wang advanced to the round-of-16 match after thrashing South Korean Jeong Su-nam in the previous round-of-32 on Monday.

In another match held at the same time in the center court, Indonesian non-seeded Aldilla Sutjiadi brushed aside Japan's seeded player Miyu Kato, 6-1, 6-0, in sets that lasted 33 and 31 minutes respectively.

"Today I played in the match without pressure. My playing rhythm was better than yesterday. I managed to apply my strategies (to win the match)," Aldilla said on the sidelines.

Aldillla marched into the round-of-16 after defeating Thai no. 10 Peangtarn Plipuech on Monday.

Aldilla becomes the only Indonesian women's singles player still standing in the quarterfinals slated to commence on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, China's no. 1 seed Zhang Shuai won her match against Omani Al Nabhani Fatma Thalib Sulaiman. Zhang bested Nabhani in straight sets, 7-6, 6-1.

Zhang will go up against South Korean no. 8 seed Han Na-lae in the quarterfinals.
