NEW DELHI, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- A day after 30 passengers sustained injuries after cabin pressure dropped on a plane shortly after it took off from India's financial capital Mumbai, one of the victims on Friday sought a hefty compensation of three million rupees (40,000 U.S. dollars).

Aviation sources said that the passenger was one of the five seriously injured who sustained ear and nose bleeding, and had to be hospitalized.

"The victim has sought monetary compensation and 100 upgrade vouchers from private carrier Jet Airways that owns the plane. He has threatened to sue the airline and make a video of the ordeal that passengers underwent public if his demands are not met," sources said.

Indian law stipulates payment of compensation to passengers by an airline if they sustain injuries on planes owned by it.

The Boeing 737 aircraft Thursday returned to Mumbai shortly after taking off for the western Indian state of Rajasthan's capital Jaipur, with 166 on board, after as many as 30 passengers sustained injuries as "the crew forgot to select switch to maintain cabin pressure."

While Jet Airways has regretted the incident, India's Civil Aviation Ministry has ordered a probe by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau, officials said. "It will be probed if it was a human error or technical glitch," an official said.
