TEHRAN, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- Iran international soccer striker Sardar Azmoun is on the verge of joining Wolverhampton Wanderers, Tehran Times daily reported on Thursday.

Wolves are interested in snapping up Rubin Kazan striker Azmoun ahead of transfer deadline.

The 24-year-old first joined Kazan in 2013 and returned to the club in 2017 after a two-year spell at Rostov.

Azmoun scored four goals for the Iranian national soccer team at the 2019 AFC Asian Cup, where Iran failed to advance to the final after losing 3-0 to Japan in semifinal on Monday.
