TOKYO, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks extended gains Wednesday morning as investor sentiment was bolstered by U.S. shares advancing overnight, with investors now turning their attention to the State of the Union address by U.S. President Donald Trump.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 112.92 points, or 0.54 percent, from Tuesday to 20,957.37.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 7.44 points, or 0.47 percent, at 1,590.32.

Marine transportation, iron and steel, and chemical-oriented issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
