SUVA, March 29 (Xinhua) -- The Laws of Fiji can now be accessed for the first time online to allow anyone especially lawyers to prepare their cases well.

Fiji's Chief Justice Anthony Gates and Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum launched a website for the laws in Suva, the capital of Fiji on Friday.

Khaiyum said that the laws of Fiji can now be accessed free by anyone from anywhere around the world.

Gates said that since the launch of the 2016 Laws of Fiji, the Fijian Parliament has enacted 83 Acts and 247 Legal Notices have been published.

He said that the website will make research easier and more accurate for lawyers preparing for legal cases about Fiji and also provide access to the laws of the country for ordinary Fijians all over the world.

Gates said that the Revised Edition of the Laws of Fiji in 2016 which has been published online comprised 20 volumes of laws which included 370 Acts and 884 subsidiary laws.

It also includes consolidation of laws published in or before February 2019.

Gates said that the website will be updated regularly.
