AARHUS, Denmark, March 31 (Xinhua) -- Uganda dominated the men's race as Joshua Cheptegei and Jacob Kiplimo completed a 1-2 finish at the 2019 IAAF World Cross Country Championships in Aarhus, Denmark on Saturday.

It was the best result for Uganda in World Cross Country Championships. The previous best for team Uganda was bronze medals in Mombasa in 2007 and two years ago at Kampala.

With Thomas Ayeko finishing seventh and Joseph Ayeko 10th in the race, Uganda also won the team title.

Cheptegei dashed clear of his teammate, the former junior champion Jacob Kiplimo and the defending champion Geoffrey Kamworor to take the world title with an advantage of 25 meters in 31:40 over the 10,240m course. Jacob Kiplimo was four seconds behind for the silver. Kenya's Geoffrey Kamworor, who won the title two years ago in Kampala, came third in 31:55.
