WASHINGTON, June 11 (Xinhua) -- Four-time NBA champion Tony Parker on Monday announced his retirement from basketball at the age of 37.

"It's with a lot of emotion that I retire from basketball, it was an incredible journey! Even in my wildest dreams, I never thought I would live all those unbelievable moments with the NBA and the French National Team. Thank you for everything!" Parker said on social media.

Parker was drafted by the San Antonio Spurs in 2001 as the 28th overall pick and spent 17 of his 18-year career with the franchise. He won four NBA championships (2003, 2005, 2007, 2014) and was named NBA Finals MVP in 2007. Alongside Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili, he has the most NBA playoff wins.

In 2018, the six-time NBA All-Star joined the Charlotte Hornets, where he played his last season as a professional player.

Parker has a career average of 15.5 points, 5.6 assists and 2.7 rebounds. He also made the All-NBA second team between from 2012 to 2014.

Playing for the French national team, Parker was named FIBA Europe Player of the Year twice and was awarded EuroBasket MVP in 2013.
